Chile provides the perfect natural environment for the creation of quality honey. The breathtaking landscapes of the Lakes region, thousands of acres of native rainforest, the abundance of greenery and flowers and a temperate climate all lend themselves to the production of the most delicious honeys.

Rio San Pedro is a family run business owned by Ian and Maggy Staples, an English couple who settled in Chile twelve years ago. We pride ourselves on producing a range of high quality, monofloral and multi-floral honeys from the native forests of Southern Chile. Our philosophy is to work with nature. We use the natural resources we have and apply organic methods to manage our bees. Our extraction plant benefits from the most modern equipment and highest standards of hygiene. As a result we can produce fantastic honeys as naturally as possible.

Rio San Pedro is working with a small group of first class bee keepers who all have the same aim – to produce a first class product free of all contamination, applying the strictest international standards at every step.

Rio San Pedro is also working closely with the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile to accredit our honeys with respect to:

• Their botanic origin
• Their aroma and taste
• Their antioxidant properties
• Their effect as an antibiotic – a very exciting area
• The purity of the honey. This is an important area as routine analysis is part of the quality control key to the way Rio San Pedro operates.
